I recently (2004) became Catholic as well. But I've been losing friends because if it. Not so much losing in the sense of, "you're catholic? you suck!". Just more incompatibility. My more secular/agnostic/pluralistic friends and I don't have that much in common anymore. And my other friends (those that would be considered evangelical), have become too antagonistic towards my beliefs. It gets tiresome to always have to debate the same stuff. I'm glad that I found my way to Catholicism, but this stage is very hard. Feel alot more lonely than I use to.
